The Indian Middle is where the opportunity is.
The Indian Middle Class (300m – roughly size of USA or Europe, give or take a few million) with growing disposable incomes. The Indian Mid-sized businesses, especially those now with increasing international ambitions of joining global supply chains or acquiring cutting edge technologies or setting up partnerships. States like Madhya Pradesh and cities like Nagpur – the exciting Midlands of India. And before my friends say it – Indian Middle aged men like me who have a large Middle region.
Consultancy and accounting firms in particular must realise the Mid-Market opportunity, which often includes the larger owner/family run businesses – which are going through major transition, acquiring newer management techniques and keen to snap up new and innovative technologies quickly.
BDO is one such firm that I have found from the many I have worked with that has a laser sharp vision on India and its lucrative Middle. Connect with Kim Hayward (see his video here), Zulfiqar Shivji (their partner based in Mumbai) or with their head of India in the UK, Arbinder Chatwal to learn more about their experiences. May be it will help your company or help to launch your own ambitions.
