The mango is as potent a symbol of Indian identity as any. From around March each year Indians around the world start a discussion at kitchen tables and over chai on whether there will be a good mango harvest.
Invariably an intense debate follows on which of the many varieties is the most favoured.
By far in my humble opinion the succulent Alphonso mango trumps others at the king of mangoes, and in fact, is the declared ‘king of all fruits’ for Indians.
