Gurdwaras across the UK will go that extra special mile in offering free vegetarian food to those less fortunate.
This is the true spirit of service “Sewa” that is at the core of Sikh faith. Saluting the many thousands of volunteers across the UK who will help feed many needy families this week from all faiths and non.
Of course those familiar with the Sikh faith will know that Langar is always open to all. But this initiative is an important reminder for us all of this basic and wholly non discriminatory tenant of Sikh faith.
It is also a timely initiative to remind the nation that there are many many families who will be dependent on food banks this winter and how faith organisations can make a difference.
This is a celebration of the huge contribution the Sikh community make to our society.
