The US viewed Modi as a problem prior to 16 May (election results). He is in fact now the opportunity, the solution. A change in mindset is required on Capitol Hill.
At a start of a new relationship everything should be done to focus on all the positive aspects of the US-India relationship, instead of shopping lists of complaints.
The is no longer a big brother in this relationship. If you add up the popular mandate of all the democratically elected leaders in Europe and North America – Modi still has by far the largest mandate – Modi must therefore enjoy a special democratic dividend amongst the world polity.
Energy security has to be a fundamental pillar of Indian foreign policy. US technology and know how especially in renewables can play a huge role.
